A tooth root canal, also known simply as a root canal, is a dental procedure designed to treat infections or damage within the pulp of a tooth. The pulp is the soft tissue at the center of the tooth, consisting of nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed due to factors such as severe tooth decay, cracks, or trauma, a root canal becomes necessary to save the tooth and alleviate pain.
